Glasgow-based Blue Milk are a roots based group harking back to traditional turn-of-the-century Delta Blues and 60s & 70s electric Blues Rock.
Taking their name from the classic Captain Beefheart album ‘Safe As Milk,’ Blue Milk are heavily influenced by the slide guitar style of Ry Cooder and inspired by blues legends such as Muddy Waters, Junior Kimborough and Lightnin Hopkins, to name but three.
The band deliver a brand of blues which is entirely their own.
The dynamic 4-piece boasts dirty, electric slide guitar and rousing melodies from Jonny Mac (guitar, vocals) the wailing howl of Leo S. Glaister’s harmonica, powerfully resonant undertones from Ike Malinki (bass guitar, backing vocals) and infectious grooves from Taylor Whyte (drums, backing vocals).
Playing both originals and old Delta Blues covers in venues across Scotland, Blue Milk channel the raw spirit of blues in its most authentic form, whilst simultaneously bringing a driven twist to the genre.
